Effective July 1, 2023, the application fee provided by law is $32.50 payable to the Sheriff of the applicant’s county of residence, and the fee to the Office of the Attorney General is reduced to $0.
The minimum age to apply for a concealed carry handgun license is 18 years of age.
Application Process
- Must complete an 8-hour weapon safety and training course and obtain a certificate of completion from a certified instructor.
- Processing the application and issuing the license approval takes a minimum of 45 days, but by law cannot exceed 90 days.
- Kansas Concealed Carry License application submission services from our office are available only to current residents of Kingman County.
- A Kingman County Sheriff’s Office Employee will fingerprint the applicant and forward the entire packet to the Kansas Attorney General for processing.
- Applicant will complete a 4-page application form and attach a 2″x 2″ passport type color photograph.
- Acquire check or money order made payable to the “Kingman County Sheriff’s Office” in the amount of $32.50 (Fees subject to change in accordance with State law. Please verify all fees with the Kansas Attorney General).
- Submit in person the completed application with photo, training certificate, and check to the Sheriff in the county of residence.
Step 1: Complete the online application and print a copy.
Step 2: Take the application copy with required items (training certificate, completed application, valid photo ID, and check or money order payable to Kingman County Sheriff’s Office in the amount of $32.50) to the sheriff’s office to complete the application process. Fingerprinting for submission of a Kansas Concealed Carry License application is provided Mon-Fri 8:00 am-Noon and 1:00 pm-4:00 pm by the Detention Staff. *Please call us in advance at (620) 532-5133 option 1 to ensure that staff is able to provide fingerprinting at the date and time you desire.
Step 3: Our office will send off you application to the Office of the Kansas Attorney General.
